How do I turn off popup windows from www.antispyware-review.biz?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under firewall software review | 9 Comments »

I am getting frequent blue and grey pop-up wanings with "Windows Security Alert". A trojan or other virus will be named, followed by a question "Do you want to block this software from sending data over the internet?"

The only button available is one for "Enable Protection" and, if I click this, I am taken to the webpage for antispyware-review.

My Firewall and AVG are all working fine, regardless of these messages.

What can I do?

Download, update and scan your computer with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, delete what ever they find, run SmitfraudFix if this fails to completely remove the infection, all the software below is completely free and safe to use.

If your infection is proving very hard to remove download then update Avast and run a boot-scan (click schedule boot-scan and restart your PC).

Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

SuperAntispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

SmitfraudFix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.exe

Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Once you have removed the infection download Avast and Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop the virus returning. (links on my profile)

Preferably something that includes both anti-virus and firewall. I’ve been using Norton for years, but I’ve seen many bad reviews about the new Norton 360 program.

Plz some one translate this to easy English or persian/farsi and what is the meaning of SQL?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under top rated firewall software | 1 Comment »

In terms of risk, SQL injection is right up there at the top with problems like buffer overflows. I recently had an argument with a large database software vendor about this. They rated SQL injection problems as a low risk issue and were greatly more concerned with buffer overflows in their RDBMS offering. I pointed
out to them that to exploit a buffer overflow in the database server one must first get past the organization’s firewall. A nice easy way of doing this is through SQL injection: the firewall must allow inbound connections to the web server from the Internet so customers can access the web application; and if the
application is vulnerable to SQL injection then the attacker can get access to the database and exploit the buffer overflow vulnerability. But here’s the kicker – why would an attacker bother exploiting the buffer
overflow vulnerability if they can arbitrarily gain access to the data in the database anyway? Since this discussion, I’m glad to report that the large database software vendor has since "upgraded" the status of
SQL injection vulnerabilities and give them the respect they’re due.

It is a programing language for DB2.

Current software:
spyware doctor (free trial) ..always detects darkmoon trojan in registry key for some reason..
avg
bazooka
tuneup utilities 2008 (for cleanup etc)
comodo firewall (made the switch from zone alarm)

ive been a bit concerned about whats on my comp since ive been getting alot of ip spoof attacks.. just to be on the safe side ya know?

so what do you recommend? ive checked so many reviews on multiple sites id really just like to ask the people ya know
and no i dont have all the programs on at once, i only have comodo firewall on.. and every other day or so i do scans with each other software.

Download and run firefox to protect your from future spyware attacks and pop ups which are coming in through internet explorer (Trojan downloaders, win32 ) .Then update your windows through firefox
Browser attacks aren’t easy to spot because they piggyback on legitimate traffic that doesn’t exhibit many obvious warning signs

install addition protection into firefox with
Adblock Plus 0.7.5.3

There’s a browser safer than Firefox…
…it is Firefox, with NoScript!

Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2008/03/malwarebytes-anti-malware-105.html

Run the anti spyware remove programs spybot http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2007/03/spybot-search-and-destroy-spyware-and.html and superantispyware http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2007/04/superantispyware-home-edition-free.html

Free Firewall ???

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under free firewall | 8 Comments »

I’m looking for a free firewall, me and my husband have tried:

Comondo & Zone Alarm (at seperate times obviously) and to be honest they both have had conflicts with programs (zone alarm had too many conflicts to name plus it hogs memory and system mechanic is claiming that comondo isn’t on which has us concerned…) so we were wondering if you could recommend a good free firewall, a fully functional free firewall not a 30 day trial (like sunbelt).

please provide a link too and if you wish some info too
sadeyzluv;

you may have used Sygate for years but Sygate got bought up by symantec (the same people who do Norton Anti-Virus) there hasn’t been an update for the program for years…
G.D;

it hasn’t been updated since 2004…. i would like something that’s been updated since it kinda makes me a lil leary when using stuff that hasn’t been updated over a year let alone over 3
Vote me;

I would say big deal, because not everyone is well off as you and if you want to start saying that everyone should run out and pay $70 for a firewall for what purpose each year you have to renew it we’ve been through that with both Norton & McAffee firewalls and we scrapped’em both cause of issues besides it kills ya systems resources…

A Firewall is a security measure used to separate your Local Area Network and the outside world. This includes not only blocking outsiders from gaining access to your network, but controling the information requested by a user inside the network.

What is the top freeware antivirus and firewall software around?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under firewall software | 8 Comments »

I have tried Kaspersky which is an all in one protection suite but I found it slowed down my computer and wasn’t worth the price I paid for.

I am now using the free version of AVG and am considering zone alarm as the firewall. Both are freely available.

Are the commercial AVG and zone alarm any good?

Are there any antivirus and firewall software, which are freely available and are effective in their protection?

what is the best firewall software available?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under best firewall software | 6 Comments »

I’m looking for a good firewall solution (software)

Comodo Firewall Pro is the best free firewall. Windows firewall only blocks incoming traffic. It does not stop outbound traffic – it wasn’t designed too. According to Microsoft, your anti-virus is responsible for detecting any type of malware (which could potentially send your private information to hackers without your knowledge).

Comodo Firewall Pro includes proactive malware defense for free. This will only help keep you safer. Kaspersky and NOD32 are the best anti-virus programs but you can get AVG, Avast! or AntiVir for free (install only one). Spybot Search and Destory, Super Anti-spyware or Adaware are all free anti-spyware applications you can download. I also recommend Firefox, it’s a far better and safer alternative to Internet Explorer. If you add-on McAfee SiteAdvisor, it will warn you of potentially harmful sites.

Does windows vista need additional antivirus/firewall software or is it secure enough on it’s own?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under antivirus firewall software | 6 Comments »

Currently running Norton Antivirus/firewall and it’s up for renewal. Vista "windows defender" is constantly trying to override or run along with it. Do I need the extra security from additional products?
